2024-2025 UPDATED AMAZON WISH LIST!!
In Fall 2020, we created an Amazon wish list that includes both indoor and outdoor recess items approved by Principal Hammel and Assistant Principal Ross. The list has been updated to reflect this year's requests from the kids, especially for indoor recess with the weather turning colder and wetter. Multiple items correspond to the recess cohorts.

The Baldwin Outdoors Committee
The Baldwin Outdoors Committee is a group of parents and caregivers who are committed to enhancing the outdoor recess area at Baldwin Middle School. Our hope is to help address our children’s social and emotional needs by creating a fun, creative and inclusive space to interact during school hours, during outdoor class time, for future club meetings and after school as well. Our projects are guided by student input and an ongoing partnership with the faculty, administration and Baldwin PTO. Every project that we create must be approved by our Principal, Assistant Principal, and the Director of Operations and Facilities for the town of Guilford before we can proceed. We currently rely on community donations, volunteers, grants and fundraising efforts to help us achieve our goals.

2021-2022
The BMS PTO Executive Board called a motion to request approval for the purchase of a Gaga Pit at our March 2022 meeting and IT PASSED!! The goal is to have the Gaga Pit setup in 6 weeks (with the hopes of just a couple weeks).
2022-2021
GFFE - Game Top Picnic Tables
We are very excited to share that Baldwin Middle School has been approved for an Evolving Education Grant from the Guilford Fund for Education! This incredibly generous grant will allow the PTO to purchase two, ADA compliant, outdoor picnic tables on which the Baldwin Outdoors Committee will paint Chess/Checkers game boards. These tables will be used for recess, outdoor class time, and will serve as a future space for club meetings and enrichment activities. We are thrilled to be able to add these tables to the outdoor space at Baldwin. On behalf of the students, faculty, PTO and the Baldwin Outdoors Committee - thank you, GFFE!! Blacktop Project
Thanks to a very generous donation from our PTO this year, Baldwin Outdoors has been able to purchase hula hoops, jump ropes, corn hole, board games, chalk, stacking cup games, portable bases, and more!
With our remaining funds and an extremely generous donation of time and work from Tom Hinding and The Hinding Group, we painted games on the blacktop, including foursquare and basketball court lines. Stay tuned for updates and photos.
Upcoming Projects
We look forward to reaching out to the students again for ideas and revisiting these projects each school year. Some items students have requested include:
- Elevated garden bed
- Swings
- Climbing structure
- Nature observation deck
